Enabling the Future Internet for Smart Cities

Jobs

The InterSCity project seeks post-doctoral research fellows to work on themes related to the Future Internet and Smart Cities. InterSCity is a large consortium of researchers from top Brazilian universities, working in the fields of Distributed Systems, Middleware, Networking, Software Engineering, and other areas related to the Future Internet and Smart Cities.

This call will select candidates interested in receiving a Fellowship from FAPESP to carry out advanced scientific research in the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) or in Pontifícia Universidade Católica (PUC-Rio), both in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

InterSCity is seeking proactive, energetic researchers to tackle research challenges in multiple aspects of Smart Cities science and technology being carried on by two different research groups: Grupo de Teleinformática e Automação (GTA) from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and Laboratory for Advanced Collaboration from the Informatics Department of PUC-Rio.

The first scholarship of this call focuses on research topics of two subprojects: SOS: Security Operation System and UNI: Unified Network Infrastructure

  • Security and Privacy in IoT and Smart Cities
  • Network Function Virtualization and Software Defined Network for Smart Cities
  • Blockchain for Communication
  • Big Data Analytics for Intrusion Detection
  • Distributed Stream Processing using Machine Learning
  • Apache Spark Streaming and Apache Storm Platforms for Traffic Monitoring

The second scholarship of this call focuses on middleware services for Internet of Mobile Things (IoMT), Remote Actuation and Coordination of smart MObile things (RACMO), and Participatory IoT system, with following sub-projects:

  • Reliable Actuation and Remote Control on Things with Intermittent WPAN connectivity
  • Handover as a Edge Computing service
  • Connected Autonomous Cars or Aerial Vehicles
  • Efficient and opportunistic data and processing migration between the cloud and the IoT network edges
  • Matchmaking Algorithms and Incentives for a IoT data and control marketplace
